Kia ora!
I am currently in my 3rd year as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) and 1st year Prefectural Advisor (PA) at the International Relations Bureau of Fukuoka Prefectural Government. My first 2 years on JET were spent as a CIR at Fukuoka International Exchange Foundation promoting internationalisation at the grass-root.
As a CIR at the International Relations Bureau, my work now involves translating official letters and documents, as well as assisting correspondence with Fukuoka Prefecture’s friendship/sister cities.
As a PA, I primarily work with Municipal JETs in Fukuoka, namely ALTs and CIRs employed by various municipalities across the Prefecture. I am here to answer questions including but not limited to jobs, contracts, life in Fukuoka and life in Japan in general. Non-Municipal JETs are more than welcome to contact me anytime as well. Along with other PAs, I am also involved in planning the Fukuoka JET Orientation in addition to regular meetings for ALTs and CIRs.
A little bit about myself: I come from Fukuoka City’s sister-city, Auckland, New Zealand, but was originally born on the little island of Taiwan. During university, I spent one year of study abroad in Hiroshima. It was, and still is, the best year of my life! I enjoyed my time in Japan so much that I had no choice but to hop on the JET plane and fly back in August 2009.
I hope that you will come to love this place as much as I do!
