Learn Japanese
It goes without saying that learning Japanese will enhance your JET experience. There are many different kinds of classes offered throughout the prefecture, and international organizations have updated lists of what is available. Usually terms begin in September and April, and applications should be made in August or March. Also check with your contracting organization, as they may be able to recommend a school or tutor in your area.
